Overview
Functional Analyst with strong expertise in functional analysis, COBOL Microfocus, SQL Server, and application development. You translate business requirements into structured IT solutions, design technical implementations, coordinate technical teams, prepare and test functional cases, and ensure solutions meet business needs in banking or insurance projects using Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
Job Responsibilities
- Be in charge of translating business requirements into a structured IT solution while keeping a functional approach.
- Help translate this functional design into a well-tailored technical design.
- Prepare functional integration test cases based on the requirements.
- Test the product before delivery to the users.
- Analyse potential corrective actions to be taken.
- Coordinate technical designers and programmers during implementation of functionalities.
- Work closely with the business to ensure the final solution fits their needs.
- Actively support the Project Leaders in the project implementation.
Must Have Skills
- Master’s or Engineer in IT or a scientific domain with IT interest, or Bachelor with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in technical analysis.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in the insurance or banking domain.
- Seasoned in functional analysis.
- Experience as Lead Functional Analyst and IT Solution Designer on large-scale projects.
- Experience in Life Insurance (preferred).
- Experience in designing user interfaces / subscription processes; contract management is an asset.
- Minimum 5 years of experience with Application Development of Administrative systems in an IT department.
- Strong ability to capture main topics in discussions with technical IT people.
- Proficient in MS Office tools.
- Strong understanding of source code in COBOL Microfocus and SQL Server.
- Able to plan own work respecting deadlines and budgets.
- Ability to interact with all technical and non-technical members of the organisation.
- Strong experience in Agile and Waterfall project methodologies.
- Experience in Architectural design.

Fluency in French and Dutch, with a good command of English.
Nice to have
- Experience in web-based Client/Server systems with MF back-end (Cobol Microfocus / SQL Server).
- Experience with batch processes.
- Experience with Cobol Microfocus / SQL Server programming.
- Experience with .NET and SQL.
